Normally I don't feel compelled to write about modern WWE, but a little 3 minute video made me feel that I had to.
And with that, the last vestige of the brand extenion era is gone and... I think it makes sense, given their current direction. As many already know, the brand extension was a by-product of the then-WWF's purchase of long time rival WCW. In fact, one show was SUPPOSED TO BE a WCW show, while the other remained WWE. Of course, THIS match didn't help things:
And this, along with other factors such as Time Warner refusing to give them a slot on their network (apparently, they felt that they were DONE with wrestling), this idea was scrapped. However, it did end up taking form in RAW and Smackdown having two different rosters and, for a while, PPV events.
Within the past few years, however, the WWE has given up on the idea, merging the rosters back together. This was a logical final step in that direction and, I think it's fine.
